Federal Mahogany Upholstered Sofa, America, c. 1810. Four-seat scroll-back sofa with ring-turned cylindrical splats tenoned to five curved stiles continuing into saber legs, all with reeded fronts conforming with straight stretcher rails framing the stuffed and upholstered panel across back and below straight arm supports reeded to a stop at front and joined to attenuated vasiform uprights blocked to conform with bowed seat rail and terminating in ring-turned tapered legs, flanking two additional forelegs, all raised on brass casters, (multiple repairs, surface damage), 190cm wide, 68cm deep, 86cm high (75in wide, 27in deep, 34 1/2in high).
