The featured coral is set within a diamond lattice gallery, completed by a two millimeter wide band. Identified with markings of "K14". Containing: One prong set oval cabochon cut natural salmon coral, measuring 10.90 x 9.00 x 4.50mm, approximate weight of 3.16ct., clarity is severely included, medium light, moderately strong, reddish orange color, (GIA rO 4/4), cut is good. Transmitting light very diffusely, opaque. Naturally occurring internal & external characteristics are present. Graded in the setting. Coral (Corallium Japonicum) is formed undersea by microscopic animals called coral polyps. These tiny, creatures form minute, hard shells. As a colony grows, it takes on complex branching, tree-like forms which allows the maximum number of polyps to be fed by the nutrients in the water. It grows about one quarter inch per year.
