The hollow cast trade sign depicts a knee-high men's boot style common in the late 19th century.

Figural trade signs in the form of one's trade or occupation served as effective advertising to a society with considerable populations of immigrants and others for whom reading wasn't a quick and easy thing.

Measures 21 x 11.25 x 4.5 inches.
