Description
Second Intermediate Period, Ca. 1700 - 1550 BC .
An Ancient Egyptian hand-carved stone scarab amulet. The top features intricate insectile features such as a frilled clypeus, and sinuous legs tucked beneath the carapace. Displayed across the bottom are incised symbols typical of the second intermediate period and also known as ‘Hyksos sides’ or ‘Hyksos panels’. These are also found on royal name scarabs of that period. For similar see: MET Museum Accession Number: 68.136.9.
