Until his premature passing in 1987 at the age of 45, Cecil Youngfox had solidified his position as one of Canada's prominent Indigenous artists. He gained renown for his vibrant and emotionally resonant depictions of native cultural traditions. Presently, his robust and imaginative artistic vision continues to command admiration, capturing the attention of collectors worldwide, both in private and public spheres.
Born in 1942 in Blind River, Ontario, to Ojibway and Metis parents, Mr. Youngfox received numerous accolades during his lifetime. Notably, he was honored with the Aboriginal Order of Canada in recognition of his efforts in preserving his native heritage.
