Description
Japanese title Mono omou koi. Designed by a highly known ukiyo-e artist, Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806), who is best known for his bijin okubi-e: large-headed pictures of beautiful women. As shown, the delicate vertical hand painted color, and ink print of a woman caught in a melancholy moment reflecting on love. Though the title series is not indicated on the print, the original Edo period print can be found in the 1790s series Anthology of Poems: The Love Section (Kasen koi no bu). Artist's signature on the lower left. Housed in a gilded wooden frame with tick black cloth accent. Frame size: 12"W x 16.25"H x 1.25"D. Sight size: 7.5"W x 11.5"H.
