English Satin Stitchwork rendering of a Scotsman being welcomed into camp by Britannia, in oval format, set into black painted oblong panel under glass, SS: 16 3/4" x 20 3/4", OS: 19 1/4" x 23". Splitting in painted background, yellowed.Old handwritten note pasted verso reads "This is a very unusual silk picture as the subjects are almost always religious. But this is romantic in nature and exquisitely lovely in coloring. It should be restored by an expert."
