Description
Paris, Ontario. 1873-1884. Salt-glazed stoneware. Henry Schuler was the sole owner of the Paris stoneware pottery beginning in 1873, and lasting for 11 years. He had been involved in the business since 1867, first as an employee and then in partnership with Peter McGlade from 1868 to 1873. Based on the style of the flower decoration this jug likely dates to the early/mid 1870s. Stamped, "H Schuler Paris Ont". 13" x 8.75" x 8.75". From the Darryl Silver Collection.
Condition
Excellent condition. A few small in-manufacture postones, one notably at the front below left side flower. There is a 4-inch hairline underneath that runs along the base edge. Some fry in the cobalt floral decoration.
