Description
A FRENCH PARIS PORCELAIN PEN TRAY OF NEOCLASSICAL DESIGN, LATE 19TH CENTURY, bearing Sevres marks, shaped rectangular with bowed ends each containing an inkwell with cover, with another well of urn shape with cover at the back, the whole is white with gilt laurel cand the panels painted in colours with floral ornaments, the underside with interlaced L's mark enclosing the letter V, A below.
18cm high x 38cm wide x 16.5cm deep
Provenance: From a collection of furniture and antiques left to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB ) in 1939 by Evelyn Stannus of Kensington. Items in the collection are believed to have come from Ireland. Since 1939 many objects from the collection have been on loan to the National Trust and this item has been displayed at Montacute House.
