Item Details
Description
Kenny McKenna (Oklahoma / Kansas, b. 1950), "Spire on Capitol Peak", 2010, oil on canvas

sight: 18 x 24 in., frame: 26.5 x 32.5 in.

Provenance: An Austin, Texas collection

Working exclusively in oil, Kenny McKenna strives to capture the feel of the landscape by location painting, quick sketches, and photographing with the finished piece completed in his studio. Whether painting the vastness of the Grand Canyon, the Arizona desert, Monument Valley, the Rocky Mountains, or a sunset on the Great Plains, his objective is to create a piece that comes together by knowing what to paint in and what to leave to a viewer's imagination. His exhibition history includes the Gilcrease Museum and the Panhandles-Plains Invitational, where he received the show's only honor, the Lead Steer Award.
