Army & Navy Co-operative Society, London - A Victorian silver half hunter pocket watch with later watch chain, circa 1884, outer cover with blue enamel Roman numerals and inner chemin de fer chapter ring around the circular glazed aperture, white dial, marked 3337, with black Roman numerals, blued hands and subsidiary seconds register at 6H, gilt full plate mechanical crown wind movement signed ARMY & NAVY C.S/ Ld. 117 VICTORIA STREET LONDON S.W. No. 3337 with hand setting button at 4H, case, 50mm diameter, interior with casemaker's mark of Philip Woodman & Son and London hallmarks for Sterling silver, 111.3g gross; the chain with mark of George Edward Gee, Birmingham 1907, 'rolled curb' links graduating from 10mm to 5mm each part marked, terminating at one end with a swivel catch and at the other with a T bar, length 33cm, 36.8g (2) The Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd was incorporated in 1871 by a consortium of British army and naval officers for the supply of goods to its members. Many items were made to order and catalogues were released twice a year featuring illustrations for items such as barometers, jewellery, watches and tableware.
