H. 21 cm Johann Friedrich Boettger, a German alchemist and ceramist, is known for his groundbreaking work in porcelain making. He was born in Schleiz, Thuringia, in 1682 and spent much of his life in Dresden. In addition to porcelain, Boettger also devoted himself to glass production. The lithyaline glass is a remarkable example of this. It is a glass with a wide variety of sealing wax red colours and a special marbling.
