Item Details
Description
An Adams-Jones Type Compound Microscope, possibly pre-1759,
Signed Dolland, London. With super stage lens, wheel of six objectives, two Lieberkuhns, live box, fish plate forceps, one ivory slider, bull's eye condenser, plano-concave mirror.
Contained in a fitted mahogany box. Missing key.

Box dimensions: H: 3 1/4 x W: 11 3/4 x D: 8 3/4 in.

Exhibited at the Dittrick Museum.

From the Estate of John A. Davidson, Jr. Proceeds to benefit the APL of Lorain County and the Dittrick Museum.

Notes per John Davidson: Clay and Court ascribe this style of instrument to Adams c -1790. This instrument made by Dolland has a single eye lens. Since the double eye lens was used after 1759, this instrument was probably made before this time. Perhaps Dolland, not Adams introduced this type of instrument.
