Wurtz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, Hungary under Hincz Gyula, Bortnyik Sandor, Por Bertalan, and Charles Koffan. Wurtz exhibited his art all around the world including Hungary, Japan, Russia, Romania, Vienna and the United States. He received many awards including Munkacsy Prize, Biennial Golden Pen of Belgrade, Summer Exhibition Award, Szeged and Artist of Merit in the international Commission Andersen Award IBBY. He was a member of the Creative Union of Artists and Engravers. Wurtz was a prolific illustrator including books such as "The Giant from the Little Island", "Marti Grunbarts Abenteuer", "The Tears that Saved a Town: A Story", "Zenga Zenek" and Sir Walter Scott's "Kenilworth". His works are included in many collections including Princeton University Library, Albright Knox Art Gallery, National Gallery of Canada, Gutenberg Museum, The Hermitage, Pushkin Museum, LaGuardia Community College NY, and Miscolci Galeria, Hungary.
