A minimal silver gelatin photograph print on paper titled "Flax" by American photographer Imogen Cunningham. Circa 1920s. Per the Imogen Cunnigham Trust, this vintage print has the instruction "one print reversed" on the verso. It was intended for use in a triptych. Authenticated by Rondal Partridge, Imogen Cunnigham's son. Trustee of the Imogen Cunningham Trust. Dated 17 May 1985 and signed by Rondal Partridge. Paperwork included (see photos for reference). Cunnigham used macro photography to show a singular piece of flax in extreme close-up detail. The simplistic composition in black and white is timeless. From a private collection. Dimensions: 20.25"h x 16.25"w x 1"d (framed). In excellent condition. Imogen Cunningham (1883-1976) was an American photographer known for her botanical photography, nudes, and industrial landscapes. Cunningham was a member of the California-based Group f/64, known for its dedication to the sharp-focus rendition of simple subjects. She worked alongside famed photographers Maynard Dixon, Dorothea Lange, and Edward Weston. Weston would go on to have solo exhibitions at the Dallas Art Museum and The Museum of Modern Art in New York. Today, Cunningham's works are held in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, among others.
