A traditional pair of Acoma Pueblo pottery from New Mexico. Each vessel is signed "Acoma N. Mexico." The vessels are fired glazed earthenware with highly stylized geometric designs in stark black, white, and yellow ochre. This set has a checkerboard and a native bird design. Acoma pottery has been sought after for decades for the Native American people of this region are known for a wealth of culture and art. Recognized for the intricate line designs which the artists completed freehand. Although decorative, the objects were made with functionality in mind and could also be used for drinking, storage, or ceremonial purposes. From a private collection. Dimensions: 3.75"h x 2.5"dia (per item). In exceptionally good vintage condition consistent with age.
