BIOGRAPHY:
Cydette Vikander began her studies at home through her Grandmother's tutelage in painting and also learned from her father who worked in the motion picture industry as a make-up artist. He had an expansive collection of fine art books which inspired her to study art in Paris, France. Vikander attended the Paris American Academy of Art in 1978.After living in Paris and traveling throughout Europe she returned home to California where she attended Otis Parsons School of Art in Los Angeles. Her studies, as a painter, continued as she won a full grant to the Peoples' Republic of China as a guest artist to exchange Western ideas with the East.Now residing in Bozeman, Montana, her primary medium, soft pastel, she has exhibited her work in over 40 shows, 14 of which were solo.Awards over the years are from Myrna Loy Center, Electrum XXIV, Best of Show, Helena, Montana, Seafood Leader International Art Competition, Showcase Winner, Seattle, Washington, Los Angeles Times, Certificate of Excellence, Los Angeles, California, San Francisco Art Academy, Scholarship Award, San Francisco, California.
