A PAIR 19C. CIRCUS HORSE GATE OR HITCHING POST FINIALS

Item Details

Description

The elaborate and finely cast figural gate or hitching post finials are finely modeled as taught horse head figures having detailed bridle assemblies, sculpted mane, well-formed muzzles with detailed mouth and nostrils, each with ornament between the ears and elsewhere above a laurel wreath base. Both display a very good and quite old surface of dry green paint over red. The scarcely seen figures are rarer to find as a pair.

Measures 14.5 x 9.25 x 4 inches.
