Description
A late 18th century French ormolu and marble mantel clock the dial signed for Coteau and for Pochon, Paris the arched case surmounted by a foliate urn decorated with gilt brass foliage, laurel garlands and with overflowing cornucopias to either side, the front with a torch and floral vines mount, the base with recessed floral wreath and beading and six toupie feet, the 4.5 Roman and Arabic enamel dial signed in red with elaborately pierced brass hands, and signed coteau below 30, the twin spring barrel movement with shaped back plate, anchor escapement with silk suspension and outside count wheel striking on a bell, with winding key and pocket watch key for suspension regulation, 36cms high Footnotes: Provenance Purchased from Frank Partridge & Sons, Ltd, 144-146 New Bond Street, London in 1949 for £145.
