An impressive late 19th century French patinated bronze and rouge griotte marble figural pedestal clock the clock produced for the English market, the dial signed Agnew & Sons, Paris, the bronze figural group after Claude Michel, known as Clodion (French, 1738-1814) the group formed as pair of dancing bacchantes, one holding a tambourine aloft, the other a bunch of grapes, a playful infant satyr by their side, on naturalist circular base with grapes, pipes and a syrinx to their feet, the fluted dwarf marble column with inset foliate pendant mounts, raised on a fruiting laurel socle mount and square plinth base, the 5' black enamel dial with gilt Roman chapter ring with Arabic 5 minute track set within a foliate bezel, the brass twin train movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, with pendulum, together with an early 20th century Chinese carved and pierced hardwood low table with inset marble top, the scrolling supports united by curved stretchers, the clock, 124cm high, 38cm wide, 38m deep, the table 47cm high, 44cm wide, 44cm deep (2) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * TP * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
