Phyllis Keyes (British, 1881-1968) and Vanessa Bell (British, 1879-1961) A unique tin-glazed earthenware dish made by Phyllis Keyes, decorated by Vanessa Bell, circa 1934 34.3 x 47 cm. (13 1/2 x 18 1/2 in.) marked with Keyes insignia and initialled 'VB' (to the underside) Footnotes: Provenance Edna Clarke Hall, thence by descent Private Collection, U.K. Edna Clarke Hall was a Slade School artist who attended the Bloomsbury Group's Friday Club. She was a contemporary of Gwen and Augustus John, Ida Nettleship, Ambrose McEvoy and Albert Rutherston, She now is best known for her many illustrations to Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.
