These figures were made by Antoine Sartorio for Marseille's municipal opera house, destroyed by fire in 1919. Rebuilt by the architects Castel, Ebrard and Raymond in 1924, the decor created by a team of artists ,including Emile-Antoine Bourdelle, is a major witness to Art deco in Marseille.
