Description
A Damascus sabre for army officers as an officer's shooting trophy, dated 1933Slightly curved, pipe-backed blade of forged Damascus steel with the manufacturer's logo of "Carl Eickhorn, Solingen" at the root of the blade. Lavish ornamental etchings on both sides with geometric bands, flowers, tendrils and trophies and the dedication "Ehrenpreis für hervorragende Schießleistungen 1933 / Hptm. Warmuth, I. R. 7.". Knuckle-bow hilt in gilt, non-ferrous metal (abraded), engraved with oak leaf decoration. Black synthetic grip with wire winding, leather finger strap (torn). Black lacquered steel scabbard (abraded), rigid suspension ring. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 97 cm. This magnificent version is extremely rare.Condition: II
