Description
A Silesian wheellock rifle covered in bone inlays, probably Teschen (Cieszyn), circa 1650The octagonal barrel slightly constricted in the middle with eight-groove rifled bore in 11.5 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights in iron with folding rear sight. Floral embellishment struck at the root, the middle of the barrel and at the breech. The lock fitted with an external wheel, pan with spring-loaded cover and release button. The cock engraved with mythical creatures. Set trigger. The full stock made of walnut with lavish inlays of engraved and blackened bone and mother-of-pearl. Depictions of different animals interspersed with curled shavings and dot inlays. The butt with patch box, the butt plate re-purposed from the end plate of the patch-box cover. Iron trigger guard, original ramrod with bone tip and threaded iron sleeve. Length 95 cm.Condition: II +
