Herbert Ryman (Disney) Original "A Star is Born" Set Design Concept Painting From the Estate of Stan Jolley - This piece is a framed original oil on illustration board painting featuring a set design concept for the 1954 Judy Garland film A Star Is Born, by Disney imagineer Herbert Ryman. The illustration depicts Garland waving on a city street, and is signed by Ryman to the lower right. Herbert Ryman began his career at MGM before he began working for Walt Disney after being personally sought out by Disney, who was impressed by his works. Ryman went on to serve as an art director for beloved animated films such as Fantasia and Dumbo. Even after leaving Disney, Ryman stayed friends with Walt Disney and eventually helped Disney to turn his envisioned Disneyland into reality. This piece was acquired from the estate of Stan Jolley. Stan Jolley was friends with Herbert Ryman, and another instrumental figure in bringing Disney's ideas to life. This lot will come with an auction lot card from a previous auction. Measurements: 15.25 x 38.25 inches, framed-21.25 x 44 inches.
