Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum. Provenance: Worn by Mrs. Harvey Seward (formerly Annie Bailey Powell, 1875-1959) as her going away suit. The wearer was born in Columbus, NC. She is listed on the federal census in Wake, NC in 1880. In 1898, she married Harvey L'Anson Seward (1872-1943) of Petersburg, VA in Savannah, GA. After their marriage, they are listed on the federal census in Petersburg, VA from 1900, Rives, GA in 1920, and Petersburg, VA from 1930.
