Folk art depiction of the Statue of Liberty with the text "Miss Liberty welcomes all those persecuted sick hungry to the Land of Liberty to pursue health wealth and happiness opportunity business profession education this is America" throughout her body. Perkins was a part of the Marines and the Marine Corps and was stationed to protect President Coolidge, eventually leaving the service to preach across the United States. In 1976, Perkins moved to Alabama and took an art class where he discovered a passion for art. With both military and religious backgrounds, Perkins's works often feature patriotic and biblical themes in bold colors.
Oil on canvas,30 1/2" x 20 1/2".
Signed and dated "12-29-90 B.F.P." along bottom.
