Circa 1850
Presentation rudder comprised of wood panels and tied rope in a display case marked "Modle Jury Rudder Originated, Constructed, and Successfully used by Cap. J.G Lawton of Massachusetts. in conducting the ship Warren into the Port of New York after a passage of 109 days from Glasgow, in the Winter of 1850 &51. And by him Presented to P.T. Heartt Esq. U.S. Consul Glasgow 25th Decr. 1856." Philip Titus Heartt served as the U.S. consul at Glasgow under President Pierce's administration.

From the collection of a Fort Pierce, Florida estate.
Condition
One glass panel with bruise, rudder needs to be reset in case, rudder displays general wear associated with use, otherwise good condition and displays well.
