A development of the popular Crusader, the Continental was introduced for 1963. The newcomer used the Super 5's tuned, 20bhp engine and five-speed gearbox but eschewed the latter's leading-link fork in favour of conventional telescopics while adding a rev counter, fly screen, dropped handlebars and (on some bikes) an Italian-style 'jelly mould' tank to the package. Pioneered on the Continental, the policy of including as standard all the performance-orientated 'extras' that customers might want to fit later was an enormous success, and this concept was extended further by the Crusader's ultimate development - the Continental GT - which arrived in November 1964. For his/her £270 the GT owner got clip-on 'bars, rear-set footrests, a racing-style glassfibre tank, and 'bacon slicer' brake cooling discs up front, in addition to an extra 1.5bhp. With its café racer styling, brisk performance and excellent handling, the GT was every young motorcyclist's dream and a well-deserved success for the Redditch concern.

This Continental GT has had three previous keepers since 1978 (according to the HPI check sheet) and has belonged to the current vendor since 2021. An older restoration, the machine has 11,392 miles recorded on the odometer and displays tax disc that expired on 31st March 2013. Offered with a V5C Registration Certificate.
