The present work is one of two versions of Fisherman's Bride that Theodore J. Roszak painted in 1934. The other version was exhibited in the Second Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting at the Whitney Museum of American Art from November 27, 1934-January 10, 1935 and was subsequently purchased by the Museum for its permanent collection where it remains today.
