Fu Baoshi (October 5, 1904 – September 29, 1965), born in Nanchang, Jiangxi, with his ancestral home in Zhangtang Village, Beigang Township, Xinyu (formerly Xinyu), Jiangxi. Originally named Changsheng, he was also known as Zhongzhou, with the courtesy name Qingyuan and the art name Ruilin, and he styled himself as the master of Baoshi Studio. As a prominent figure in modern Chinese art, Fu Baoshi was a painter, art historian, calligrapher, and art educator, known especially for his contributions to the "new landscape painting" movement. His major artworks include "Qu Yuan," "The Land So Rich in Beauty," "The Grandeur of Coal City," "Snowy Forest," "Heavenly Pool in Mountains," and "Mirror Pond and Flying Spring."
