Condition

The canvas has been lined.

A faint stretcher mark is just visible along the right edge.

There are very fine lines of craquelure with some corresponding minor chips to the paint surface scattered throughout.

There is a small chip to the paint in the lower right of the sea.

Spots of surface dirt are scattered across the composition.

UV light reveals areas of heavy retouching and infilling to craquelure throughout the canvas. Some of the retouching has discoloured and is visible to the naked eye.
