Chinese Ming Dynasty Gilt Bronze Tantric Buddha Figure of Mahakala. Having a wrathful appearance pig head with wide broad ears entwined beneath the flame like hair before the crown of five dry skulls below aura-chakra nimbus. The figure is stand at Chapastana position upon a oval lotus pedestal, the left leg carrying the weight with bended knee symbolized the bow; the other leg pulled up against the body, symbolized the arrow. Adorned with many attractive jewels, and silks. Right hand raised above the ear upward, holding Crescent knife with vajra hilt, while the left arm raised to chest high, holding a bowl. Emerging and surrounded by the demountable rays of aura-chakra nimbus and mandoria light emanate from the pedestal throne, with elaborate reliefs of scrolling tendrils surrounding the body, they depict the Buddha about to reach enlightenment. The deity wears jewelry, bone necklace, including the elongated necklace of fresh heads. His beard and hair painted in reddish brown. Standing upon a moon disc and double lotus throne pedestal. The bronze is bright and lustrous as the light is easily reflected from the well-polished surfaces. The plaques split in the middle section, and fitted perfectly upon each other. There is a light grey patina noted in several creases. The underside with incised Quadra-petal flori-form visvavajra mark and centralized DaiJi
