Mudge & Dutton, London, a late 18th century dumb quarter repeating pocket watch, 8 jewel, key wind and set, gilt full plate movement with cylinder escapement, balance with diamond endstone and Stogden's quarter repeating, activated through the pendant, and striking on two blocks within the 22 karat, yellow gold open face case with London hallmark, date letter for the year 1783, and maker's mark "I.T.P.", with roman numeral white enamel dial, 46.25mm, 104.2g TW
Condition
CASE: Lacking outer case; Dents, short split, and patch at 9:00; Now with a shutter for the winding aperture; Fine scratches; Lacking crystal; Bow worn; Precious metal content tested. DIAL: A few faint hairlines and small loss at center. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Cap with a few scratches; Very fine scratches on plate; Localized marks and scratches at pillars; Regulator disc with minor tarnish. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Not running; Staff appears to be intact but without freedom; Movement complete. COMPLICATION: Repeat work appears to be complete, train runs, but all or nothing mechanism not releasing, circa 1783
