(1890 – 1963) German general who commanded the 111th Infantry Division and the only recipient of both the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross and the Knights Crosso the War Merit Cross with Swords. Partly-printed war-date D.S. signed on recto and verso, 2pp. 4to., [n.p.], July 21, 1941, a recommendation for a recipient for the award of the Iron Cross, 1st Class to: '...Oberstleut Utnart i.G. Schoch fearlessly carried out reconnaissance under enemy fire in the front line, using his entire person, and fulfilled his duties in troop leadership [in] the division with excellence...'. File and staple holes, even toning, overall very good. The 111th Infantry Division was created for the sole purpose of fighting in the Russian Campaign. The division served from May of 1941 to early 1944 when they were destroyed during the defense of Crimea.
