Pair of items signed by heroes of the D-Day invasion, includes: SIMON FRASER, LORD LOVAT (1911-1995), prominent British commando, landed at Sword Beach during the invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944, later relieve besieged paratroopers at Pegasus Bridge, signature lightly mounted beneath a copy of a wartime photo. WITH: LEONARD LOMELL (1920-2011), United States Army Ranger who served in World War II. He is best known for his actions in the first hours of D-Day at Pointe du Hoc. Through skill, courage and 'pure luck,' Lomell found and quickly disabled five guns in an orchard overlooking Omaha Beach. Lomell was recognized by historian Stephen Ambrose as the single individual—other than Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower—most responsible for the success of D-Day. His signature, rank and 'Battles from D-ay thru to Battle of the Bulge' on a card mounted beneath his printed portrait. Two pieces.
