(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Fine content and association T.L.S. 'Ike' with holograph salutation and subscription on his D.D.E. letterhead, 1p. 4to., Indio, Ca., Mar. 29, 1968 to British Major Gen. KENNETH STRONG (1900–1982) who earned both British and foreign awards for his service in Eisenhower’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force and his role in negotiating the surrender of Germany in 1945. In part: '...Dr. John E. Wickman, Director of the Eisenhower Presidential Library...will be in the United Kingdom in May...During his trip he is also collecting material for the [Eisenhower] Presidential Library in the United States, a portion of which is devoted to the history of the Second World War and the post war years. For these reasons, he is especially interested in interviewing you for the Library's oral history program. I would be most grateful if you would consent to see him....'
