Lot of two German ‘cigarette’ albums, including: ‘Adolf Hitler Pictures From the Life of the Fuhrer’ (Bilderdienst: Hamburg: Herausgegeben vom Cigaretten), 1936. 133pp. large 4to., with a frontis portrait of Hitler and a foreword by Hermann Goring. This example is almost completely filled, showing images depicting Hitler in various formal and informal scenarios. Some photos have come loose.; WITH: ‘Deutschland Erwacht’ (Herausgegeben vom Cigaretten/Bilderdienst: Hamburg), 1933, 150pp. large 4to., with an enormous fold-out photo in the rear showing a rally at Nuremberg. Completely filled propagandistic photographs depicting the Nazis' takeover of the German government and in excellent condition. These so-called 'cigarette books' contained historical text and were supplied to smokers who then filled the book with color photos obtained when they purchased cigarettes. Two pieces, very good.
