Huge collection of over 130 original period photographs of American women serving in the U.S. military, virtually all during World War II, a small handful from prior to that war. Sizes range from postcard-sized to 8 x 10 in., the great majority being 6 x 8 in. or larger. Subjects include nurses, Navy, WASPs, WAAC, and WAC, most being press photographs with paper captions applied to the verso. Every possible subject is covered, including women at the front, in training, under review, at their jobs be it at a desk, tending wounded or ferrying aircraft, 'leg shots', portraits in uniform, candid images, etc. Several of the images are signed, in some cases by many of the sitters. Overall fine condition.
