Lot of ten photos, approx. 4.5 x 3.5 in. b/w, pulled from a photo album of an American G.I. Images include: two photo of the monument for famed American journalist Ernie Pyle; the G.I. posing with the cross at Pyle’s grave; a closeup of the original sign designating the spot Pyle was hit by enemy fire at Le Shima, reading ‘At this spot the 77th Infantry Division lost a buddy Ernie Pyle 18 April 1945’; three men performing the bugle call ‘Taps’ next to the monument; a subsequent commemorative event held for Pyle at his monument; and four photos of the G.I. and locals. A few of the images bear descriptive text on the verso. Ten pieces, very good.
