Description
A scarce anti-Semitic cartoon from the Russian Imperial period which originated from the collection of Russian scholar and journalist Alexey Semenovich Shmakov (1852-1916). The cartoon is 10.25 x 8 in. b/w and titled ‘Scientists – Pants-Sellers’, depicting two elder scholarly Jews poring over fabric with a younger Jew, while a young salesman watches from a bench. Archival tape reinforcement to central fold on the verso, moderate soiling and wear to edges, otherwise very good.
