Description
Offered here is a World War II relic associated with German ace HEINRICH EHRLER (1917-1945), credited with 208 enemy aircraft shot down in over 400 combat missions. The relic measures 22.5 x 11 in. and bears no markings. Mounted to the frame is a slip designating this piece as ‘Number 13605 flown by German Ace Henrich Ehrler’. It is further noted that this is ‘of the 5./JG 5...found in Russia...flown by Heinrich Ehrler on his 200th kill...The airframe was later shot down by Russian Flak over North-western Russia and was forced to land in the tundra’. Mounted to the reverse is a brief description of Ehrler’s military career. A fine association relic.
