Red-painted steel charity collection can, approx. 4 x 6 in., as used by the ‘Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt’ (‘National Socialist People’s Welfare Organization’), or NSV, during their annual ‘Winterhilfswerk’ (‘Winter Relief’) fundraising drive. Affixed to the front by two screws is a metal sign bearing a German national eagle and reading: ‘Winter-hilfswerk des Deutschen Volkes’ (‘Winter Relief Organization of the German People’). The top of the can is fitted with a hinged carrying handle and a coin slot with the engraved serial number ‘20152’, while the bottom is stamped ‘3086’. Some chipping to the red paint throughout and a few dents, overall, very good.
