Rare Sicherheitspolizei (or 'SIPO') Gestapo and Kriminalpolizei collapsible blued steel spring baton ('stahlrute'), a particularly nasty weapon used to subdue those resisting arrest. The baton opens to a length of 15 inches with two-thirds of the length comprised of a heavy-duty steel spring. The spring terminates in a steel tip which could easily crack a victim's skull or face open. The spring collapses into a hollow tube, the end of which bears the abbreviation 'SIPO' in relief. A brown leather strap is fitted to the end of the tube for carrying. Very light surface corrosion in a few places, mentioned only for accuracy.
