SCARCE RUSSIAN IMPERIAL REGIMENTAL BADGE of the COMPOSITE INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1883
Officially approved on the 3rd of July, 1883, this badge is composed of a silvered brass band featuring the inscription 'His Own Imperial Majesty Consolidated Infantry' and a heraldic shield with the St. Andrew's star placed in the center. This regiment was established for the security of Emperor Alexander III following the assassination of his father, Alexander II. The badge can be regarded as an award, as per the Decree of 1907, which stated 'For honorable service in His Own Imperial Majesty's Consolidated Infantry Regiment'.

In the early 1850s, the Russian army consisted of more than 900,000 regular soldiers and nearly 250,000 irregulars (mostly Cossacks). The last living veteran of the Russian Imperial Army was Ukrainian supercentenarian Mikhail Krichevsky, who died in 2008.
