Description
Sir Charles Lock Eastlake (1793-1865) limited edition, steel engraving titled Pilgrims in Sight of Rome. It was engraved by Charles William Sharpe, after the painting by Eastlake, which was painted in 1827. Sharpe originally produced this engraving in 1848, and it was published in The Art Journal of that year. This framed piece was produced in 1880 by D. Appleton and Company on thick, heavy stock. It is double matted in a floating mat, and framed under glass. It measures 11 inches x 14 inches. This piece was acquired from a Virginia estate. , 11 inches x 14 inches, LOT REF #23-321
