Bryant, on letterhead of the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Yosemite National Park, California, Office of the Superintendent, with U.S. eagle watermark. 26.5x20.3 cm (10½x8"). June 11, 1925.Dr. Harold C. Bryant (1886-1968), legendary among ranger-naturalists at Yosemite, famous for his field trips and evening campfire talks, advises H.A. Eveleth of San Francisco that "The trip that you have mapped out is a fine one... plan to leave after the middle of July when the high mountain passes... are clear... Beginning July 10th a small store will be open in Tuolumne Meadows where supplies could be obtained.... If you have never been over the Sunrise Trail to Tuolumne Meadows I suggest it rather than the Yosemite Falls trail as being the finer of the two..." On the back is the ink sketch map he has drawn, with the roads and trails to be traversed, delineating Yosemite Valley, Merced Lake, Devil's Postpile, Mt. Lyell 13,000 ft., Tuolumne Meadows, Tenaya Lake, etc.
