First Edition.John Udell's Diary from January 1850 to July of 1855 takes up the first 113 pages, with the remainder being an autobiographical sketch. Wagner-Camp notes that "Between 1850 and 1860, John Udell crossed the Great Plains to California four times before settling there permanently... Udell traveled the Platte River route, through South Pass, going southwest to Salt Lake City, and then to the Humboldt River by way of Hastings' Cutoff..."
