ITALIAN HAND-PAINTED MAIOLICA TIN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE VASE PAIR, each of flask form with curled horn mask handles and a double pierced base, featuring polychrome hand-painted images including otherworldly figures including winged mermaids, angels, and birds, comprising one example having a medallion to one side depicting a lion attacking a horse and a man raising a large stick to fend off the large cat and reverse depicting a peasant couple, remaining example having medallions including one featuring the God Pan being attacked by an angel or cherub and reverse depicting an older bearded man in armor and a young man holding a bow and arrow. Unmarked. 19th century. 12 1/8" HOA.
Condition
One having a minor glaze flake to rim and a flake to foot edge; each having mask handles with some losses to curled horns including one having restoration to horns.
