PHILIPPE H. MOUREY CONICAL PENDULUM MYSTERY MANTEL CLOCK, featuring a gilt-metal classical woman holding a locomotive in one hand, and a pendulum in the other, mounted to an onyx case with gilt mountings, figure and mountings are both signed "PH. MOUREY". Retains French movement with bell to interior. Lacking key. French. Second half 19th century. 23" HOA, 13 1/2" WOA, 7 1/4" DOA.
Provenance:
Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
Condition
Good condition overall with moderate surface wear to gilt surfaces; small corner loss and surface wear to onyx case; several feet are loose and crooked, but clock is stable. Original silk string holding pendulum broken and replaced with cotton string. Untested and in unknown working condition (see Catalogue Guarantee).
